The Vision: Making Solar Energy Simple and Accessible

Gransolar Group, a leader in renewable energy, faced a challenge: their customers struggled to understand and manage their solar energy consumption and production. The process was complex, requiring constant technical support, and internal teams faced communication bottlenecks.

The objective was to create an intuitive platform that would transform complex energy data into actionable insights, empowering users to take control of their solar energy systems.

The Puzzle: Turning Overwhelming Data into Clear Insights

Solar energy is the future, but managing it shouldn’t feel like solving a Rubik’s Cube. Gransolar’s customers were drowning in data, unable to make sense of their energy consumption or production.

At the same time, internal teams struggled with inefficient workflows that slowed down project delivery.

The goal was clear: create a platform that would simplify solar energy management, reduce reliance on technical support, and improve inter-team coordination.

Homeowners, Businesses, and Teams Unite

To create a user-centric solution, we focused on two key groups:

  • Solar System Owners: Homeowners and businesses looking to monitor and optimize their energy usage.

  • Internal Teams: Engineers and project managers who needed better tools for communication and data sharing.

By understanding both perspectives, we designed a platform that met the needs of users while streamlining internal workflows.

The Blueprint: Adapting to Real-World Challenges

Here’s how we navigated the process:

  1. Initial Audit :

    • Mapped existing workflows and identified inefficiencies in the communication with the customer.

    • Collaborated with business and marketing managers to align on business goals and user needs, but quickly realized that the initial scope was too broad. We had to pivot and focus on the most critical pain points first.

  2. User Mapping:

    • Conducted interviews and workshops to identify key user profiles and their specific needs.

    • Discovered that homeowners and businesses had very different needs, so we split the roadmap into two phases to address each group effectively.

  3. Functional Prototyping:

    • Designed iterative prototypes, but early testing revealed that users found the data visualizations overwhelming. We had to simplify the interface and focus on the most actionable insights.

    • Worked closely with engineers to integrate real-time energy data, but faced technical constraints that required us to rethink the data architecture.

  4. Colaboración multidisciplinar:

    • Partnered with engineers to ensure technical feasibility, but frequent misalignments slowed progress. We introduced daily standups and a shared backlog to improve communication.

    • Held regular syncs with the business managers to prioritize features, but had to reprioritize mid-project when user feedback revealed new pain point

The result was a platform packed with innovative features designed to simplify solar energy management:
